Gothic Mood Board

What are your first steps when starting a new creative project? One of my favorite things to do is to start a Pinterest mood board. It’s such a fun visual way to start brainstorming and it can provide sparks of inspiration for visual cues in your writing. I have a WIP that I started during NaNoWriMo that has been rather neglected since. Recently, I was scrolling though the mood board I made on Pinterest and now I’m itching to get back to working on it! You can find my WIP mood board here: https://www.pinterest.com/lokibear/wip-mood-board/

Since I had such good luck with creating one for my novel, I thought it would be fun to make a mood board for my blog! I want to focus on gothic horror since it isn’t the most popular genre that other bloggers cover exclusively. But I do have tons of of other interests including historical fiction and rural fiction. So I started this experiment by using images from Unsplash to create the gallery below that combines a variety of my favorite genres. It is a mixture of Dark Academia, Gothic, and Bookish type images that I feel really pull together my aesthetic.

So I hope this helps you to see more of what my blog and writing is all about! I’m looking forward to this new adventure and will return to this post frequently to review the images and the mood board.

Have you ever made a mood board? What else do you like to to when brainstorming a new project? Next time, I’ll share my favorite gothic writing playlists!
